Racing from as easterly as Singapore and as westerly as the USA was delivered to our clients this weekend, however it was two races in particular that stood out from the rest as showpieces from the weekend’s action. Both races in question took place on Sunday, the ‘Committee’s Prize’, a Group 3 affair from Singapore’s Kranji Racecourse, and the ‘Premio Federico Tesio’, a Group 2 contest from Italy’s San Siro Racecourse.
2015 Chesham Stakes winning jockey, Christian Demuro, was first past the post in the Premio Federico Tesio aboard his mount, ‘Full Drago’. This Italian bred, promising colt is trained by Stefano Botti. A familiar second name to any British racing follower, Stefano Botti is the brother of Newmarket based Marco. This was Stefano’s fourth consecutive success in the Premio Federico Tesio, which is one of the highest graded middle distance races in Italy.
One for the rugby fans, the Australian bred gelding ‘Twickenham’ took the prize in Singapore’s S$200,000 Committee’s Prize. The race was won by the finest of margins (picture below), between two horses who battled it out up front for much of this exhilarating affair. Twickenham notched up this, his ninth career victory, on his birthday, exactly six years since his foal date. 'Kirks Ryker' was the highly unlucky second place finisher, a former runner for Michael Halford in Ireland last year before coming on leaps and bounds in Singapore this year.
Next weekend, the action goes live to our clients from South Africa, Germany, the USA and further!
