24th January 2020 – America’s unique Pegasus World Cup Championship Invitational Series is to be broadcast in Africa and the Caribbean for the first time ever.
The celebrity filled fixture - which takes place tomorrow (Saturday, 25th January) at Gulfstream Park, Miami - has attracted 10 contenders for the $3 million Pegasus World Cup GI. Tenfold, representing owner and trainer connections – Winchell Thoroughbreds and Steve Asmussen – who won the 2018 Pegasus with horse of the year Gun Runner, will be looking for a repeat performance. While Seeking The Soul returns for his third attempt, after finished second last year to City of Light and is eligible to run a big race this weekend.
The $1 million Pegasus World Cup Turf G1 has invited 12 contenders, including Magic Wand trained by Ireland’s legendary Aidan O’Brien, who returns for his second attempt having finished runner-up to 2019 winner Bricks and Mortar. Trainer, Chad Brown revisits with three contenders from his barn invited to race – Instilled Regard, Sacred Life and Without Parole.
HBA Media, the UK-leading media rights organisation which distributes top-class horseracing around the world, has for the third consecutive year, successfully generated global interest in the feature races.
Once again Sky Sports Racing has exclusive coverage for the UK and Irish audiences. Meanwhile, in Europe broadcasters include Match TV (Russia) and Silknet (Georgia), with Eurosport ensuring that the US event is accessible in over 100 European and Asian countries. ESPN will continue to deliver the Pegasus to its established digital audience in Latin America.
Forty-eight countries in Africa will be newly served by leading broadcaster SuperSport, while Caribbean race fans can also watch via SportsMax. Asia is covered by Eleven Sport (Taiwan), Shanghai TV, Wuhan TV, Beijing TV (China), and The Green Channel (Japan).
The two international races will also receive an excellent visibility in the Middle East through an exclusive agreement with Yas TV.
Enhanced exposure has also been secured with Sports Unlimited (Global magazine show) and SNTV (news) - both providing the Pegasus World Cup Championship Invitational Series with worldwide recognition.
